Code & Permitting
Drawings that don't match the code your local AHJ enforces get bounced back - and in a fast-growing county, that's a delay you can't afford. We draft against the 2018 North Carolina State Building Code, which remains the enforced statewide standard. The 2024 North Carolina State Building Code (based on the 2021 IBC) has been adopted, but its effective date has been pushed back repeatedly by the General Assembly - most recently tied to Hurricane Helene recovery work and Residential Code Council formation - and is not expected before mid-2026 at the earliest, with further delay possible. Until an effective date is certified, the 2024 code can only be used as an alternate method at a building owner's request. We track both code sets and confirm with your local AHJ which one applies before drafting begins.
